Heroic-scale bronze statue in strict neo-classical style, representing the philosopher “in the antique”. Unveiled in 1996 by Sir Stewart Sutherland. Saltire Society project.

John Witherspoon Statue, Paisley, Scotland, and Princeton USA.

Heroic-realist style pedestrian bronze cast in two copies. Witherspoon rose to fame as a cleric in Scotland before becoming Princeton University’s most famous President. A signator of the Declaration of American Independence.

Paisley copy unveiled by HRH the Princess Royal June 2001. Princeton copy unveiled by President Shirley Tighlman November 2001 . (Three years execution period.)

Ambitious programme of civic monumentalism devoted to the advocacy of Peaceful Endeavour and the Liberal Arts. Two seated figure groups (Peace and Justice) and four colossal standing figures for the main structure. Phase 1 complete November 2005. Palladio Award (USA) January 2006. Hugh Petter architect (Robert Adam Architects). (Six years.)
